Job Title: Senior Quality Control Supervisor
Reports To: Plant Manager
Location: On-site – Lacrima Dairy (Cheese Production Factory)
Job Summary:
The Senior Quality Control Supervisor oversees and ensures the consistent production of high-quality cheese products by managing quality control processes throughout production, packaging, and storage. This role ensures compliance with food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality specifications while leading a team of quality control technicians and collaborating closely with production, R&D, and sanitation teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Control Oversight
Supervise daily QC activities across cheese processing, aging, packaging, and storage areas.
Ensure adherence to product specifications, recipes, and regulatory compliance (e.g., Codex, FDA, EU regulations).
Monitor microbiological, physical, and chemical parameters of raw materials and finished products.
2. Testing & Documentation
Approve and review lab test results (moisture, pH, fat content, microbial tests, etc.).
Oversee sampling plans for raw milk, in-process cheese, brine solutions, and packaging materials.
Maintain and audit all QC-related documentation, including batch records and deviation reports.
3. Food Safety & Compliance
Enforce HACCP, GMP, and ISO/FSSC 22000 protocols.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) in case of non-conformance.
Collaborate with QA team on internal and external audits (e.g., GFSI, customer audits).
4. Team Leadership & Training
Lead, train, and evaluate a team of QC inspectors and technicians.
Develop QC skill matrix and ensure team readiness in operating lab equipment.
Conduct refresher training on hygiene, sensory evaluation, and contamination prevention.
5. Continuous Improvement
Monitor quality KPIs (complaints, rework, yield losses) and suggest improvements.
Participate in R&D trials for new cheese varieties or packaging innovations.
Coordinate sensory evaluations and shelf-life studies.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, Microbiology, or related field.
5+ years experience in Quality Control within a cheese or dairy manufacturing environment.
In-depth knowledge of cheese production processes, fermentation, aging, and microbiological risks.
Familiarity with ISO 22000, BRC, HACCP, and local food safety regulations.
Strong leadership, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with lab equipment like FTIR, pH meters, incubators.
Knowledge of cheese sensory evaluation.
Background in ERP or LIMS software for traceability and reporting.
